President Al-Bashir: Sudan will not
deal with the ICC decisions
Merowe, March 3 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal
Omer Al-Bashir has reiterated that Sudan will not deal with the
decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Addressing a
massive celebration, organized on the occasion of launching of
electricity generation from Merowe Dam Tuesday, President Al-Bashir
said that the unjust decisions that were issued or are to be issued
by the Sudan's enemies will not but boost the determination of the
people of Sudan. He referred to the challenges Sudan has been facing
since the advent of the National Salvation Revolution, explaining
that the people of Sudan are dignified and will not accept
humiliation. He added that the pressures that were being imposed on
the Salvation government such as economic siege and unjust political
decisions were intended to stop the development process, stressing
that Sudan, in spite the challenges, managed to sign the peace
agreements, establish development projects and a number of
infrastructural projects besides oil production, declaring that the
country is considered at the top of the fastest economic growth
countries as testified by the World Bank.
President Al-Bashir bestows Star of
Accomplishment on Executive Director of Dams Implementation Unit
Merowe, March 3 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal
Omer Al-Bashir has bestowed the Order of Accomplishment on the Dams
Implementation Unit (DIU) in recognition of its accomplishment of
Merowe Dam Project, the project of the century. The President issued
a decree conferring the Star of Accomplishment on the Minister and
Executive Director of DIU, Osama Abdullah Mohammed El-Hassan. The
President's decrees, which were read out by Minister of the
Presidency Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih during the celebrations held at
the site of the dam on the occasion of launching of electricity
generation, highlighted the efforts being exerted by Minister Osama.
Meanwhile, President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir
issued a number of presidential decrees, honouring representatives
of countries and funds which contributed in the funding and
construction of Merowe Dam. In this regard, President Al-Bashir
bestowed the Order of the Republic (First Class) on Sheikh Mansour
Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates Minister of Presidential
Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Rowas, the Minister of
Regional Municipalities & Environment and Water Resources of the
Sultanate of Oman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the Board of
Directors of the Kuwaiti Economic Development Fund, Sheikh Dr.
Mohammad Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Dr. Ibrahim Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Assaf,
Saudi Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of
the Saudi Fund for Development, and the Chinese Minister of
Commerce, Chen Deming, the Qatari Minister of State for Energy and
Industry Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada and the Chairman of the Board
of Directors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD),
Abdulatif Al-Hamad. On the other hand, the President of the
Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, has bestowed the Order of
the Republic (Second Class) on the Deputy Chairman of the Board of
Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development Dr. Yousif Ibrahim Al-Assaf,
besides awarding the Order of the Two Niles (First Class) to the
Chairman of the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED)
Dr. Abdelwahab Al-Badr and the acting Director General of Abu Dhabi
Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.
Merowe Dam Irrigates Two Million
Feddans of Agricultural Lands, Says Minister
Khartoum, March 3 (SUNA) - Minister of Industry Dr. Jalal Yousif
Al-Degair pointed out that Merowe Dam will irrigate about two
million feddans of agricultural lands a matter that copes with the
agricultural development policy adopted by the country. The
minister, interviewed by SUNA on the occasion of launching
electricity production at Merowe Dam, said electricity will cover
all the country through linking it with the national grid. He said
despite of the blockade, the Sudanese people managed to establish
the big project as practical reply to the enemies of Sudan.
Atim Garang: Establishment of Merowe
Dam Reflects Strong Will of Sudanese People
Khartoum, March 3 (SUNA) - Deputy Speaker of the National
Assembly Atim Garang has pointed out that establishment of Merowe
Dam is a proof of free and strong will of the Sudanese people,
indicating that it's the start of buildings more dams in southern
part of the country to boost development. Atim Garang, interviewed
by SUNA on the occasion of launching production of electricity of
Merowe Dam, added that the establishment of the dam is the result of
the realization of peace in the country.
